HI, my name is Pascal Schmidt, I was born 1992 in Nepal and was adopted by Germans who then migrated to Jamaica, where I then grew up. I am now located in Germany.

My dance career started in Jamaica where I grew up learning from Tony Wilson a former dancer at “Dance Theater of Harlem.” I then decided to study dance in Germany where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in dance at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim, under the Direction of Birgit Keil. Afterwards I joined the German National Youth Ballet (Bundesjugendballett) where we brought dance to people who usually do not have the chance to go to the theater. I led workshops for children and choreographed for this company.

After two years I was asked to join the Hamburg Ballet, where I then got to dance solo and principle roles. I was also a part of the “Young Choreographers” where I freely got to express my form of movement.  I also do my own choreographic projects for which I design and make the costumes. These projects are my way of giving back to the community.

I discovered these different art forms through my grandfather. Not only was he a film documentarian of his own life experiences but a tailor as well. He created one of my favourite Halloween costumes: a chicken from "The Bremen Town Musicians". Being exposed to these artforms all of my family has continued to influence, inspire and help me elaborate, giving me opportunites that I have never dreamt of.

I am now on a never-ending journey, finding new ways to express myself and others.
